Aga Waszkielis BSc(Hons), MSc, GSR, is our Sports & Injury Rehabilitator at the Well4ever Clinic

Aga received a Diploma in Sports & Deep Tissue Massage in 1999, and has gained a wealth of experience ranging from office workers with repetitive injuries and strains to athletes competing in sports events.

Sports massage & remedial massage can help alleviate muscle tension, joint stiffness and relieve pain. The physiological benefits of massage include improved blood and lymph circulation, muscle relaxation and general well-being.

Conditions treated include:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Sports injuries
  • Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)
  • Whiplash
  • Tendon, ligament and muscular injuries

After an initial assessment, treatment usually combines soft tissue work, spinal and peripheral mobilisations, exercise programs and postural re-education.

A sports massage can increase elasticity of tissues, removal of waste products, deactivation of trigger points and faster healing of injuries. Regular massage can help prevent future injuries too.

If you’re training for a big event, a ‘pre-event sports massage’ can reduce muscle tension and decrease risk of injury. It can be either stimulating or relaxing. Alternatively, the ‘post-events massage’ can help the body recover from the stresses of strenuous exercise and facilitate the rebuilding phase of conditioning.
