Counselling is a professional relationship between a therapist and a client. The two terms Counselling and Psychotherapy are often used interchangeably and may lead to some confusion.

Counselling is usually short term andย focused upon a particular issue that is causing undue internal conflict.

Psychotherapy is more long term in nature, and will typically involve a clientโ€™s formative years.

Therapy provides the client with the opportunity to explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. A feeling of being understood is essential for a person to resolve conflicts that are interrupting their lives.

Most people, at some stage in their lives, feel overwhelmed by circumstances that can lead to a sense of helplessness and isolation. Therapy can be of assistance to the client through guidance or by offering the safety to allow them to explore their thoughts and feelings, gain clarity regarding their difficulties, and take steps towards resolving their problems as insurmountable as they might seem.
