What is Reflexology and How  can it help You?

Reflexology is non-invasive treatment where systematic pressure is applied on the reflex points on your feet that are directly connected to your entire body.

Though we don’t make any claims of curing any illness we have observed our clients over the years and seen that regular treatments may help in the following ways:

  • Relieve stress related conditions (digestive, sleep, aches and niggles)
  • Aid in deep relaxation >
  • Increase energy levels and improve circulation
  • Facilitate the elimination of toxins
  • Benefit congestion and sinus problems
  • Ease back pain and muscular aches
  • Assists in conception and hormonal problems
  • Relieve pregnancy discomforts (heartburn, back pain, constipation, nauseaโ€ฆ)
  • Maintain optimum health

The beauty about a Reflexology treatment is that it covers the whole body and restores it back to its natural balance where healing can occur.

I have been a reflexology practitioner for over ten years now and I believe that feet can talk. As soon as I get hold of them the feet start telling a story about the person. The colour of the feet, the temperature, where the hard skin is and to which part of the body does it correspondโ€ฆthese little puzzle pieces come together and they give me the whole picture of the client’s health issues. The amazing thing is that the feet reflect past, present and possibly future physical changes within their body.

I have few stories that I can share with you just to give you example how Reflexology is so precise and powerful.

Ten years ago when I was training to become reflexology practitioner, I was very keen to get hold of any pair of feet just to get as much practice as possible.

This is a story of my mum’s feet, her most sensitive spot was right on the gall bladder reflex point, there were a few others, but this one was really obvious. I asked her if she was aware of any digestive problems, especially connected to gall bladder. Her answer was ‘no’. I was surprised as this point was very sensitive, but dismissed it until 6 months later my mum was diagnosed with Gall bladder stones and had to undergo surgery! >Was it just a coincidence that her feet were already showing congestion in that area? Well I’ll let you decide.

The other story I would like to share with you is very interesting as it shows that emotions can also be reflected in the feet.

A few years back I gave treatment to a lady in her early twenties for the first time and her consultation form was saying healthy. She was shy looking and quiet. I started the session and she has found the treatment uncomfortable even though I was only at the beginning and adjusting to a lighter pressure.

So I stopped the treatment still holding her feet and asked her was there anything happening in her life was very stressful?

Her answer was that she just found out that her father was diagnosed as terminally ill and she burst into tears. I know this is a very sad and emotional story, but I want to share it because it illustrates how Reflexology is very holistic and connects the body mind and spirit.

I am fascinated by the prospect of the healing power that Reflexology has and from January I am volunteering to teach alongside a tutor in RACC as I have successfully finished PTTLS course and would like to share my experience with new people and gain the necessary skill to become a teacher in Complementary health field.
